Laboratory surveys must be completed and documented after each use of radioactive material. Before leaving the area, a survey should be completed at the end of the work session. If the work continues into the next day, a survey must be conducted at the end of the day.
EH&S must be notified immediately if there is extensive contamination in the laboratory or if any personnel are contaminated.
Instruments used to monitor and survey laboratories must be checked to ensure they are in working condition.
EH&S performs routine surveys to verify the laboratory meets requirements. Additionally, laboratory safety surveys are reviewed during audits.
