Research with biohazardous materials

  • Research with animals, which also includes the use of biohazardous materials, requires approval by the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
  • Biohazardous materials include human, animal, and plant pathogens and recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules
  • Visit the IBC website for related information

Personnel who work with animals should be evaluated for enrollment in the Animal Activities Occupational Medicine Program.

Use the online Hazard Inventory Form to report all work-related hazards, which include chemical, biological, or physical hazards or animal work. This will ensure enrollment in all necessary Occupational Medicine Programs.
