Farm Safety
According to the National Safety Council, agriculture is the most hazardous industry in the nation, and although the fatality rate in agriculture continues to decline, it still remains the highest of any industry sector. Every year, thousands of farm workers are injured and hundreds more die in farming accidents.
Iowa State University strives to make all of the farms overseen by the university as safe as possible. All farms overseen by Iowa State University are managed by university faculty, staff, and students who must adhere to any and all OSHA regulations and/or standards pertaining to work-related operations.
