Iodinations

Iodinations must be performed in the presence of an Environmental Health and Safety, Health Physicist.  EH&S maintains control of all carrier free radioidine.  Call EH&S at (515) 294-5359 to schedule the iodination. 

The Health Physicist will perform a baseline thyroid assay, set up a charcoal filtration system inside the researcher's fume hood, monitor for contamination during the procedure,  and survey the lab when the iodination is complete. 

A Health Physicist will perform a follow-up thyroid assay 24-96 hours after the iodination.
