Contamination Monitoring and Lab Surveys
Lab surveys must be completed and documented after each use of radioactive material. A survey should be completed at the end the work session, before leaving the area. If the work continues into the next day, a survey must be completed at the end of the day.
EH&S must be notified immediately if extensive contamination is found within the laboratory or if any personnel are found to be contaminated.
Instruments used to perform monitoring and surveying must be checked to ensure that they are in working condition.
EH&S performs routine surveys to verify the lab is in compliance. Additionally, lab surveys are reviewed during audits.
