EH&S to participate in OSHA Safe + Sound Week
The Department of Environmental Health and Safety is participating in the U.S. Departments of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration Safe + Sound Week, August 12-18, 2019.
Safe + Sound Week is a week-long event encouraging employers to implement workplace safety initiatives, and highlight workers' contributions to improving safety. EH&S is proud to be part of this event for 2019.
Over the past year, EH&S has launched several initiatives geared toward improving workplace safety. Some of these initiatives include:
- Several new safety training courses including:
- Heat Stress Awareness
- Avoiding Back Injuries
- Portable Power Tool Safety
- Silica Dust in General Industry: Preventing Exposure
- Slips, Trips, and Falls: What Supervisors Need to Know
- Beat the Heat - a summer campaign to promote safety for those working outdoors during the summer.
- A review of the ISU snow removal procedure to help prevent slips, trips, and falls during the winter.
