SUMMARY:Fire Safety and Extinguisher Training - Hands On
DESCRIPTION:Fire safety and extinguisher training is required for those emp
 loyees who have jobs that involve laboratory processes\, hot work or simil
 ar duties. Fire safety and extinguisher training is recommended for all ot
 her ISU employees.\n\nFire Safety and Extinguisher Training  provides hand
 s-on practice using a fire extinguisher in addition to classroom instructi
 on. The course covers safety and emergency procedures for preventing and r
 esponding to a fire emergency.  Participants learn common ignition sources
  of fires and good practices for the storage of flammable and combustible 
 materials with the goal of preventing fires\; what to know and do ahead of
  time in order to be prepared for a fire emergency\; the proper steps to t
 ake in the event of a fire\; when to use a fire extinguisher and how to ha
 ndle the extinguisher by putting out a simulated fire.\n\nLearners who wan
 t to practice using a fire extinguisher can attend the final 20 minutes of
  the classroom course to receive hands-on use of a fire extinguisher. Chec
