Primary Responsibilities

Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Program Coordinator, manages the University’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated RCRA hazardous waste program, including the oversight of the collection and handling of chemical, radiological, and special wastes. Provides regulatory compliance assistance, and training for all university laboratories, and facilities. Interacts with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Conducts ISU hazardous materials shipping operations, manages operation of the Veterinary Medicine Incinerator, coordinates sustainability efforts related to hazardous waste minimization, responds to and provides technical assistance during hazardous material/waste emergencies. Assists in the management of Clean Water Act, and Clean Air Act. Radiological Emergency Response Team (RERT) field staff member.
