Primary Responsibilities

Manages university programs involving environmental stewardship, hazardous waste management, and recycling efforts. Implements federal, state, and university requirements regarding clean air, water, and soil; supervises hazardous material collection, redistribution, and disposal; monitors pathological waste destruction; and protects above-ground and underground storage tanks. Leads a team of experienced environmental specialists. Anticipates environmental emergencies on campus, responds to hazardous chemical releases, and mitigates chemical hazards. Develops educational materials and conducts environmental health and safety training for students, faculty, and staff.  Advises small businesses through the Iowa State University Outreach program.
