April is Injury Prevention Month

April has been designated “Injury Prevention Month” by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.   It is estimated that workplace injuries cost the US economy over 160 billion dollars per year.  Being alert to hazardous situations, combined with good work practices and proper personal protective equipment, will contribute to a safer, healthier workplace and are key to avoiding injuries and exposures.  Hazardous situations involving facilities can be reported to FP&M by calling (515) 294-5100.  Hazardous situations involving work conditions can be reported to EH&S at (515) 294-5359.
