Health & Safety’s role is to protect the health and well-being of employees and the public from chemical, microbiological and physical health hazards present at, or emanating from, the workplace. These factors may be present as a result of workplace activities, ineffective building systems, or environmental influences. Industrial hygienists are called upon to investigate workplace problems, evaluate their extent and then initiate corrective actions to work towards their solution. EH&S operates a safety and health section with comprehensive services including worksite evaluations on specific issues, monitoring, training, and consultation.
