Occupational Medicine Program
EH&S coordinates the participation of Iowa State University employees in the Occupational Medicine (Occ Med) Program. The Occupational Medicine office provides medical surveillance and assistance to university employees who work with materials and under conditions that have identified and/or regulated risks. EH&S helps identify potential occupational health hazards, evaluates the extent of the exposure and then coordinates with the occupational physician to ensure that adequate measures are taken to properly protect employee health and safety. Identifying potential problems in their early stages prevents unnecessary health risks to Iowa State employees and allows for simplified and more economical management of occupational health. All Iowa State personnel have access to this office when job related injuries or illnesses occur.
The Occupational Medicine office is open from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located in room G11 TASF (between Gilman and Spedding Halls). University employees may schedule appointments for work-related medical evaluations by calling the Occupational Medicine office at 294-2056.
For medical concerns not related to job duties at Iowa State University, employees should seek the advice of their personal physicians, and students may go to the Student Health Center* (294-5801). For after hours emergencies, go to the emergency room at Mary Greeley Medical Center* (239-2155 or dial 911).
