Emergency Response
The primary mission of Emergency Response Preparedness is ensuring that faculty, staff and students are adequately prepared for major emergency situations. To attain the highest state of preparedness, emergency plans and procedures are needed for a campus-wide response and for specific buildings. The Emergency Response Preparedness group is also responsible for coordinating emergency exercises, drills and training with local response agencies and the university.
Severe weather poses one of the most likely risks of serious injury and property damage on campus. Weather radios have been distributed throughout campus and outlying entities to ensure building occupants are given adequate warning to prepare for weather related emergencies. EH&S staff are available to assist campus buildings with establishing notification plans, identifying sheltering locations in the event of a tornado and developing emergency evacuation route maps for their respective buildings.
